Sociology is:
1. The study of human social behavior, especially the study of the origins, organization, institutions, and development of human society.
2. Analysis of a social institution or societal segment as a self-contained entity or in relation to society as a whole.
3. Median income of $57,870 per year. my my. is that $5k per mth?

Types of sociologists:
1) Some sociologists study how people choose their leaders and organize themselves into social groups based on such factors as income, education, and prestige.
2) Other sociologists concentrate on how groups train their young people and deal with the problems of adolescence.
3) Some sociologists specialize in the sociology of cities or rural areas. Others are experts in medical sociology who study the social factors affecting mental and public health.

Sociologist will do research on various issues and come up with an conclusion which will then be used by lawmakers, educators, government officials, psychologists, physicians, social workers, and other experts who deal with social problems in their work.

Some sociologists work for government agencies or private social service agencies. They often perform services in family counseling, public relations, community planning, public opinion analysis, or other areas related to their particular fields. They may also deal with such problems as poverty, welfare, and the rehabilitation of drug addicts. Small numbers of sociologists work for private industry, research organizations, or management consulting firms where they may do full- or part-time consulting work. The work of sociologists is related to that done by other professionals in such fields as social work, recreational therapy, and public health. These professions also require some training in sociology.

Those who complete a four-year college program and obtain a bachelor's degree in sociology are sometimes able to get related jobs as interviewers, research assistants, or counselors. If you study for one or two additional years to obtain a master's degree in sociology, you may qualify for a position in social work, or as a researcher or instructor at a college or university.

The KILLER part:
1) Sociologists usually spend a large part of their day in pleasant offices, libraries, and classrooms.
I seldom read. Chunks of words just have that amazing power to hypnotize and blind me.
2)The ability to express ideas well, both orally and in writing, is essential for sociologists.

hm.. pass interview then think. no point thinking so far first =X

My definition, maybe with some enhancement...my guess...:

1.Associated with marketing--> human social behavior--> why people think that way.act that way.how people chose their favourite product perhaps? How they react to the different interactions between various promotors which result in their buying behavior?looking at those various factors..externally and internally~~~ ahah crap i know but who knowssss~
so somehow or rather, it could be a skill? =P

2.Counsellor--> actually i kinda like to do that. Seems like a noble job. But who knows will i be paid for that? those channel 8 dramas somehow developed a negative image on me leh.. =X like will re huo shang sheng.. esp if u deal with those teenagers.

3.Teachers, as what my brother told me. Gonna possess one of such skills.

4. Being a writer. Scardi next time i will be publishing my own bks! "Why can someone appear to be such a pig to the others?"

Ok lah..at least it is smth more than what i have thought of in the morn --> social worker end of story. With that degree, there are more professions to look into. Mai hiam liao. When im desperate, any degree will do. =P

Ok. Mock interview questions will be next on list. Nearer to the interview~ =P
